La Spinetta Barolo Campè 2000
Color: intense vibrant red. Bouquet: warm and rich with the elegance of Nebbiolo, scents of ripe red fruits and well balanced wood. Taste: round, distinct, great softness, but with a long. fine finish. Evolution: 30 years. Pairings: ideal with grilled food, sauced and elaborate red meat as well as wild game. Wine Spectator Wow. This is really an explosion of fruit on the nose, with masses of crushed strawberries, toasted oak and cedar on the nose and palate, and a hint of fresh herbs. Full-bodied and very chewy, with lots of ripe tannins and a ripe fruit finish. Exciting. This is the first wine from famous Barbaresco producer La Spinetta from 20 acres in the Barolo region. Best after 2010. 2,665 cases made. Score: 98. —James Suckling, December 15, 2004.Wine Advocate The 2000 Barolo Campe, the first which Rivetti has made, is very fresh and vigorous for a wine from this hot vintage, spicy and balsamic in aroma with much tar and chocolate as well, dense flavors, much length and intensity, and a sizeable but supple close. Already quite approachable, it will last another decade and a half. Score: 94. —Daniel Thomases, August 2005. International Wine Cellar (the Rivettis' first vintage of this Barolo, from a large vineyard in Grinzano Cavour) Tangy, perfumed aromas of red raspberry, rose petal and spicy oak. Juicy and highly concentrated, with pungent oakiness, coffee and minerals. Already offers captivating inner-mouth perfumne. Finishes spicy and long, with strong oak-powered tannins. 90-93 points Score: 93. —Stephen Tanzer, February 09, 2006. |
