Since 1982 the careful method of production has allowed the grapes from this vineyard to retain their natural characteristics giving us a wine of great purity. Particular care is taken during harvesting, vinification, and finally the maturation in wood so as to achieve this unique wine.

Wine Spectator Complex aromas of ripe plum, with orange peel, Indian spices and sweet tobacco. Full-bodied, round and beautiful, with soft tannins and a fresh, lively finish. The balance of opulent fruit and fresh acidity is so appealing. Why wait any longer?--1997 Italian blind retrospective. Drink now. Score: 94. —James Suckling, 2007.

Wine Advocate There are 3,500 cases of the 1997 Flaccianello, a 100% Sangiovese aged in new French oak for 18 months. A dark ruby/purple color is followed by a strikingly fragrant nose of saddle leather, cedar, licorice, vanilla, and black cherry/blackberry fruit. The wine possesses medium to full body, gorgeous delineation, fine ripeness, and a sweet, glycerin-imbued, long finish. Given the vintage's glycerin level and opulence, it can be drunk now, but it promises to last for 15 or more years. Score: 93. —Robert Parker, August 2000.
