I Greppi Greppicaia 2004
This Greppicaia is a thoroughbred foal, young and still partly to be broken in. However it has the makings of a great champion and we are sure that soon it will give excellent results. An impenetrable ruby colour, full-bodied, with clear legs on the sides of the glass. The nose has woody tones alternating with red currant, bilberry, sour cherry and black fig, followed by vanilla and later overtones of tobacco and iced coffee. The palate is lively, with distinct tannins that are not invasive, freshness and alcoholic warmth. The finish is prolonged with a return to sour cherry and red currant. Wine Spectator Dark purple in color, with amazing aromas of blackberry, currant, mineral and flowers. Full-bodied, with supersilky tannins that are seamless and refined. Goes on and on. Coats every millimeter of the palate. So fine and complex. This is from a new estate. Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc. Best after 2012. Score: 94. —James Suckling, October 31, 2007. |
