The color is remarkable: a deep, blood-ruby with no hint of garnet hues that are often present even in young Barolo. The bouquet is only periphally floral, the fruit dominated by a density that is somehow perceived before the wine is tasted. The concentration betrays its sweetness and soft, fragrant wealth. The mouth feel is immediately captivating: the texture is full and deep, the richness monopolizing the palate at first, and then releasing it to the sensations of complexity hidden beneath its youth.
Wine Advocate The estate-s 2004 Barolo Le Coste is the most ample and full-bodied of these Barolos. It exhibits a gorgeous expression of blueberries, spices, menthol and sweet toasted oak on a structured, layered frame. Today it comes across as fairly austere, but it should develop nicely with another year or two of bottle age. Anticipated maturity: 2009-2019. Score: 93. —Antonio Galloni, December 2007.Customers who purchased this item also bought:
