Full red. Extremely fresh, expansive black raspberry and mulberry scents are accompanied by notes of smoky garrigue and spicecake. Showing more vivacity than it did from barrel, with sweet red and dark berry flavors staining the palate and picking up notes of anise and violet pastille with air. Smoothly melds richness and energy, and finishes with strong lift and lovely precision.

Wine Advocate

The 2007 Chateauneuf du Pape Etienne Gonnet (70% tank-aged Grenache, and equal parts Syrah and Mourvedre aged in 600-liter demi-muids) exhibits a darker ruby/plum color as well as an attractive bouquet of salty sea breezes, seaweed, pepper, incense, black cherries, black raspberries, and currants. Elegant, round, opulent, beautifully textured, pure, and soft, with an atypical upfront style, it should drink well for 10-12 years.

Wine Spectator

Rock-solid, with a big, juicy core of crushed plum, currant and blackberry fruit stitched with mulled spice, cocoa powder and graphite notes. Shows a nice combination of muscle and racy acidity, with a dash of sandalwood on the finish. Grenache, Syrah and Mourvèdre. Drink now through 2022.
